Guangzhou Customs Clearance Case - Used Equipment Imported From Malaysia
In recent two years, lots of clients consult with us about the import of used equipment from Malaysia and other countries. Affected by covid-19 pandemic, enterprises that invest overseas have to close their factories in Malaysia and other countries. A large number of used production equipment will be directly sold in the local, while some will be imported and used domestically in China.
As an experience China customs clearance agent for imported used equipment in Guangzhou, hereunder we share the import and customs clearance flows for used equipment.

Step 1 Arrange Pre-shipment inspection
1.Fill application form and make appointment online
2.The inspection company will,after receiving the application, determine the inspection charges based on the quantity and value of equipment and the warehouse location where the inspection will be carried out.
3.Pay the inspection charges.
4.Communicate and confirm the inspection time after the inspection company confirms that the charges are received.
5.Inspection company sends inspector(s) to carry out the inspection and to check if any modifications shall be made.
6.Issue pre-shipment inspection certificate.
The above procedures take around 5-7 working days.
Step 2, arrange freight to Guangzhou, make export declaration
Export declaration: around 1-3 days
Sea freight: around 7-10 days if shipped from Malaysia or other South East Asia countries
Step 3 Customs Clearance in Guangzhou
1.Prepare packing list, sales contract, invoice, sea waybill, declaration elements, and other required documents, certificates or permits in advance.
2.Declare to customs when manifest info is available at customs system. As present China customs is quite strict on clearance efficiency, it is better to declare as quick as possible.
3.China customs verifies the declared prices and issues tax bills.
4.Make tax payment
5.Settle the DTHC charges and exchange D/O with shipping line after shipment arrival.
6.China customs does on-field inspections.
7.China customs releases the shipment after the inspections are done.
8.Settle port charges, pick up container(s) and deliver to appointed address.
The above procedures will take around 2-5 working days.
04 Destination Inspection
Most used mechanical and electrical products shall accept inspection at destination which is also known as transferred commodity inspection. At the imported used equipment is delivered to the destination warehouse, the consignee shall not open the packages and use the equipment without permission. Instead, the consignee shall sell or use the equipment after the destination inspection is done and passed. China customs will normally require the equipment in dynamic status during the destination inspection, which means that equipment shall be assembled, powered on and running. In addition, destination inspection will check the name plate info, check if machine appearance meets the import requirement and check if any hidden safety risks exist.
Notination Inspection rmally destination inspection takes 2-3 working days
